1736 Family Crisis Center is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the safety and improving the long-term survival and success of runaway and homeless youth, battered women and their children, and other people in need.

Our programs encompass an array of life-changing direct services and community outreach/education advocacy, policy development, and research efforts. These are provided from shelter and community service center sites throughout Los Angeles.

Internship opportunities
1736 Family Crisis Center is a recognized provider of proven effective services developed to help individuals and families affected by domestic violence, traumatic youth experiences, and other difficulties overcome their obstacles to healthy functioning.

We offer one-year unpaid internships for students pursuing a master's degree in social work, marriage and family counseling, or clinical psychology. Interns work with children, teens, and adults enrolled in 1736 Family Crisis Center outpatient and shelter programs, under the supervision of licensed clinical psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and social workers. Interns are based at our community service centers throughout Los Angeles.

Internships offer the opportunity to gain experience and skills enhancement in individual, group, and family counseling for people of all ages, support groups for battered women, and other treatment modalities. All activities are conducted in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment with weekly supervision provided in one-on-one and group settings.

Internships require a one-year commitment, with a minimum of 16 hours per week devoted to onsite or training assignments. Bilingual capacity (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
