Marking Progress Made, Generating Hope For The Future
On April 20, 2004, some 300 donors, friends, and special guests gathered at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles to help 1736 Family Crisis Center celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The evening's festivities centered on The Power of Family. Activities highlighted the important roles that individual citizens, corporate partners, and elected officials play in preserving and promoting the well-being of children, youth, and families, and in ending the destructive cycle of domestic violence.

This includes efforts extended by treasured 1736 Family Crisis Center supporters that have helped "grow" the Center from a single youth shelter in 1972 to nine service sites today. These locations offer runaway teens, battered women and their children, and other distressed community members a broad array of assistance to help them turn their lives around.

Honorees lauded for contributions made to improve the lives of vulnerable children, teens, and adults included Julie Knabe, Rob Reiner, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer, The Blue Shield of California Foundation, and John Raitt.

Event Co-Chairs Donna Andrews and Ronald C. Troupe also recognized Carol A. Adelkoff for her 20 years of vision and leadership as 1736 Family Crisis Center's executive director.

Art created by domestic violence and youth shelter residents reminded those present of the essential reason for gathering.

(Top left, right) Carol Adelkoff and Honoree Julie Knabe checked in with the late Marianna Gott's sister, Grace Eva Howard, and her husband, Bill.

(L. to r.) Former Governor and First Lady George and Gloria Deukmejian helped honor Julie Knabe and joined Honoree John Raitt and Carol Adelkoff.

(L. to r.) Honoree Bill Lockyer greeted Rob Reiner, recognized for his contributions to the field of early childhood development.

Marianne Balin accepted Blue Shield of California Foundation's award for its exceptional efforts to address and prevent domestic violence.

Bill Lockyer joined L.A. City Councilmember Bernard A. Parks and Event Co-chair Ron Troupe for a pre-dinner reception photo.

Congratulations and commendations came from President Bush, Senators Boxer and Feinstein, Governor Schwarzenegger, and other civic supporters.

Event sponsorship, ticket sales, and proceeds from the evening's silent auction helped generate funds to support the Center’s wide-ranging programs. Marianna Gott was the Featured Event Sponsor. Silver Sponsors included Altria Group, Inc. and I.D.E.A., Inc.

Lending their support as Bronze sponsors were The William C. Bannerman Foundation, Barnard Construction, The Castle Foundation, Manuela Cerruti, Los Angeles County Supervisor Don Knabe, and Roth Family Foundation. Patron Sponsors included Carol A. Adelkoff, Chapman & Associates, Alex Steinberg, Ronald C. Troupe, and Unisys Corporation.

1736 Family Crisis Center Board Member DeAnna Blaylock joined sister Soroptimist International of Los Angeles members Janet Elliot, Joyce Jacob, Joan Johnson, Barbara Jury, and Joan Tancredi to lend invaluable help in organizing and managing the event's silent auction.

Silent auction donors included 20th Century Fox, Aquarium of the Pacific, Belisarius Productions, Body Glove International, Bradford Renaissance Portraits, Bright Beginnings and Beyond, Barbara and Pat Carmody, CBS Productions, Clear Channel Outdoor, and Elio's Fitness for Success.

Our silent auction dazzled and ran smoothly, thanks to Soroptimist International of Los Angeles volunteers.

Donations like this "CSI" cap and cast photo from CBS Productions helped draw in silent auction bidders.

A two-hour heliocopter ride along contributed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Aero Bureau was a prized live auction item at program's end.

Also contributing items were Entertainment Industry Discounts Program, Inc., ExxonMobil Corporation, Il Toscano Restaurant, Los Angeles Councilmember Tom LaBonge, Carol Lawrence Galleries, Lawry's Prime Rib Restaurant, LIttle Sur Inn, Nancy Lomibao, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Aero Bureau, Marina Beach Marriott, McNeil Consumer and Specialty Pharmaceuticals, and Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

Other items donated to ensure the silent auction's success were provided by Paramount Productions, Rowley Portraiture, Sam's Club of Torrance, South Bay Galleria, Sal and Gail Tarantino, Viacom Productions, Andrew Weiss Gallery, Women in Management - South Bay, Yamaha Corporation of America, and Yamanouchi Pharma America.

1736 Family Crisis Center services include direct intervention and outreach provided in shelter, outpatient counseling clinic, and other community settings. All efforts focus on helping hurting individuals and families gather the multiple resources they need to shape safe, promising lives.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who made our 30th Anniversary especially memorable... whether event sponsor, volunteer, attendee, honoree, tribute journal advertiser, award presenter, or program participant.

Your involvement is helping to ensure vulnerable children, teens, and families life-saving 1736 Family Crisis Center aid the moment it is needed... and we are deeply grateful.
